The fastest two and three-year old pacer in harness racing history, Bullet Hanover, has now gone “home” to add his name to the illustrious stallion roster at Hanover Shoe Farms, Hanover, Penn.
From Lawrence B. Sheppard’s famed establishment, the son of Adios – Barbara Direct, by Billy Direct, was sent to the Harrisburg Yearling Sales, where he was sold for $30,000 to Thomas W. Murphy. Later Mr. Sheppard bought back an interest in the colt, and still later gave his trainer and diver, John Simpson, a share.
In two active seasons Bullet Hanover won 22 of 39 starts, placed six times and showed on four occasions to earn $132,476. His victories at two included the Fox, Geers, McMahon, Little Pat and Two Gaits Stakes; and as a three-year-old he took the Little Brown Jug, Horseman, Geers, Matron and Poplar Hills Stakes.
Even more sensational than these accomplishments were his times, which left him with no less than eight world pacing records. He went the mile in 1:57 and two heats in 1:57 and 1:59 as a two-year-old. At three he paced a trial in 1;55-3/5, paced a mile in 1:56-1/5 and went two heats in 1:56-1/5 and 1:58-1/5 on a mile track; and turned in a mile in 1:58-3/5 and two heats in 1:58-3/5 and 1:59-3/5 for a half-mile oval, the latter performances made him the champion pacer, regardless of age, for two heats and for the third heat at a half-mile track.

Altogether he had 15 miles in 2:00 or less, five of them at two and all but one of them in races.

His first foals will reach the tracks in 1964.
